DGA Awards 2021: tutti i vincitori

Prosegue la corsa agli oscar: ecco tutti i vincitori della 73ᵃ edizione dei DGA Awards

Nella notte tra sabato 10 e domenica 11 aprile 2021 sono stati annunciati, per l’ennesima volta virtualmente attraverso la piattaforma Zoom, i vincitori della 73 edizione dei DGA Awards.

Il Directors Guild of America Award è un premio assegnato ogni anno dalla Directors Guild of America, corporazione di registi cinematografici e televisivi statunitensi.

Insieme allo Screen Actors Guild Award, è considerato uno dei principali predittori e anticipatori degli Academy Award per la categoria della Miglior Regia. Di fatto, in 72 edizioni è accaduto soltanto in 9 occasioni che il vincitore dei DGA Awards non si sia poi riconfermato vittorioso anche agli Oscar (e questo accade soprattutto perché i membri del Directors Guild of America sono anche i membri dell’Academy).

Anche quest’anno, con l’eccezione di Aaron Sorkin (regista de Il processo ai Chicago 7), tutti i candidati alla miglior regia di un film cinematografico ai DGA si sono guadagnati una nomination alla Miglior Regia agli Academy, che si terranno il prossimo 25 aprile.

A trionfare nella categoria principale è stata Chloé Zhao per Nomadland (vittorioso anche ai Golden Globes per Miglior Film Drammatico e Miglior Regia), seconda regista donna ad aggiudicarsi il premio e la prima di origine non caucasica. Si pone quindi come papabile vincitore per gli Oscar 2021, gareggiando contro Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), Emerald Fennel (Una donna promettente) e David Fincher (Mank).

Il premio come Miglior regista esordiente va invece a Darius Marder per Sound of Metal, pellicola che ha ricevuto ben sei nomination agli Oscar.

Ennesima vittoria, in ambito televisivo, per La regina degli scacchi, miniserie televisiva con protagonista Anya Taylor-Joy che garantisce al regista Scott Frank la conquista del premio per la categoria di Miglior regia di una miniserie battendo The Undoing e Wandavision.

Homeland, “Prisoners of War” di Lesli Linka Glatter si aggiudica, invece, la vincita per la Miglior regia di una serie drammatica.
