Recentemente sono state annunciate le nomination della 77° edizione degli Emmy Awards, i più importanti premi televisivi statunitensi.
Television Academy ha svelato la lista dei professionisti in corsa per il più prestigioso riconoscimento, nel corso di una diretta dal Wolf Theatre di North Hollywood, Los Angeles.
A ricevere il maggior numero di candidature è stata Severance (Scissione), con ben 27 candidature, serie tv distribuita da Apple tv+ che aveva già vinto due Emmy nel 2022 per la composizione musicale e il design della sigla d'apertura.
A breve distanza seguono The Penguin, con 24 nomination, e a pari merito The Studio e la terza stagione di The White Lotus, entrambe con 23 candidature.
Quest'ultima serie tv, ideata, scritta e diretta da Mike White ha già un palmarès notevole, avendo vinto in passato 15 Emmy, tra cui quello di miglior miniserie nel 2022.
La piattaforma HBO Max svetta con un impressionante totale di 142 nomination, un successo trainato da titoli di punta come The Last of Us, che nel 2023 ha vinto otto Emmy, e Hacks, vincitore dell'anno precedente.
Mentre, passando agli attori, tra i nomi degli attori in lizza per un premio spicca quello di Harrison Ford, che ha festeggiato da poco il suo 83° compleanno e Kathy Bates, che a 77 anni diventa la donna più anziana mai nominata nella categoria "miglior attrice protagonista di una serie drammatica".
La 77a cerimonia di premiazione degli Emmy Awards sarà trasmessa in diretta, su Sky e Now, nella notte tra sabato 13 e domenica 14 settembre, presentata da Nate Bargatze.
Le novità del regolamento di quest'anno
Per quanto riguarda le modifiche al regolamento, quest'anno la Television Academy ha ridotto al minimo i cambiamenti significativi.
La modifica più significativa è stata apportata alle categorie di attori ospiti, dove l'organizzazione ha deciso che gli artisti che erano stati precedentemente nominati o avevano vinto in una categoria principale o secondaria non avrebbero più potuto passare a una delle categorie di attori guest star nello stesso ruolo negli anni successivi.
Quel cambiamento è stato soprannominato "la regola della regina Elisabetta" da alcuni esperti (tra cui Variety) a causa della star di The Crown, Claire Foy.
La Foy vinse l'Emmy come migliore attrice drammatica nel 2018 per aver interpretato la regina Elisabetta nelle prime due stagioni della serie e dopo aver lasciato la serie, la Foy ha interpretato la giovane Elisabetta in alcuni flashback, ottenendo un Emmy come guest star nel 2021 e una nomination nel 2024. Con le nuove regole di ammissibilità, questo non sarà più possibile.
Un'altra novità di quest'anno: un cambiamento nelle gare per la direzione artistica, dove "un individuo idoneo o un team identico possono ora presentare più progetti per categoria se i progetti riguardano programmi diversi".
Secondo l'Academy, in precedenza i registi potevano presentare una sola candidatura per categoria.
